Raising Disability Awareness in the US and Abroad.

Accessible Travel International is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization created to help the physically challenged individual to make well-informed travel decisions. Our goal is to create an online community where disabled adventurers can find resources oriented towards accessible vacations. Our intention is to make sure that disabled individuals have access to the kind of information that is important to them. Our focus will be on:

  • Destinations: Starting at the beginning of 2009, we will be traveling to select destinations including Africa, the Caribbean, Russia, Portugal, Europe and more. In order to assess and verify the accessibility of each location, and to compile precise measurements to ensure that there are no surprises for disabled travelers, we will visit each destination and report our findings on our website.

  • National Parks: We will also be visiting various National Parks, such as Yellowstone, Rocky Mountain National Park, Yosemite and the Everglades, in order to assess and verify that they are accessible to disabled individuals. While National Parks are required to meet ADA requirements, we travel to them ourselves to ensure that physically challenged visitors can make informed decisions when planning their trip.

  • Cruise Ships: Cruise ships have long been one of the most popular choices for accessible vacations. We will be compiling information about various cruise lines and destinations to help provide accurate information for disabled travelers. We will be working with and profiling Holland America, Princess Cruise Lines, Carnival Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean and other cruise ship operators.

  • Organizations: We actively form partnerships with organizations that specialize in accessible travel. By partnering with tourism related companies, other non-profit groups and organizations, we are actively developing our network of travel resources for slow walkers, wheelchair users and senior citizen groups.

Accessible Travel International also provides scholarships for disabled travelers that need financial assistance. We offer volunteer opportunities for people that would like to assist a physically challenged individual on an adventure.

As a non-profit organization, donations are always accepted and we encourage you to check out the various ways that you can support us and our cause. By donating or sponsoring you are helping to change the life of an individual through travel!
